This piece started out as a pencil sketch in about June 2007. I really liked the concept, so I decided to go “all out” in the beginning of 2010. As I began working on this piece, it became so much more than what I had initially envisioned.
I started with a pretty small beginner tablet and the program Corel Painter. After about 60 hours I hadn’t got very much done though. Then I had several very challenging life situations come and go. But I kept at it. Along the way I got an Intuos4 and started using Paint Tool Sai. This sped things up enormously. And because Sai makes the color blend so much smoother, I ended up going over most of what I had done in Painter.
I’m not extremely proud of the fact that this piece took me about 200 hours over the course of two years. But if nothing else, it just shows my determination to become better. I learned SO much while doing this. I know I can do way better in about half the time.
And like so many other pieces, by the time I got done, this was no longer the best that I could do. That’s OK, I’m really happy with the way it turned out. Time to move on to the next.
It looks mysterious, it looks formidable, it looks... mighty! With this demonic creature sitting there are watching... moon breaking apart, is it?... Technique You've used is really impressive. I can't think of any other artwork that would look in similar manner.
My fantasy is going wild when looking at this masterpiece. Telling me possible stories behind this character.... I wish I could know true story of this... person.
